Emily Clowes, Jabberjacks Franchisee for Wilmslow, Macclesfield & Knutsford
Awarded her Franchise re-sale in 2016
Emily, who lives with her husband and their 2 children in Macclesfield, Cheshire has been delivering Jabberjacks parties for over 13 years. Having worked for the previous owner delivering parties and occasionally classes, Emily is already familar with Jabberjacks, however she also worked as a Sales Consultant for Boots and therefore has years of experience in dealing with the general public.
It was during her time working as Party Leader that Sue Wright, the previous franchisee decided to say her 'goodbyes' after running the territory from when it originally started in 2001. Since Emily's children are now both at school she decided it was the perfect time to switch from Party Leader to Franchisee.
Whilst Emily has a wealth of knowledge delivering Jabberjacks activity classes and parties, she has never ran her own business and found this aspect a little daunting. Therefore, buying the franchise suited her perfectly as all the sytems and processes were already in place to quickly help her on her way. She also welcomed the one to one training she received from Head Office, including induction training, marketing and administering her business. Having resigned from Boots to take up this exciting opportunity, it was important for Emily to start earning immediately. In buyng the territory as a re-sale it mean't that she was running classes and parties from launch date and is already attracting new customers.
Emily is offering parties and classes in her exclusive territory of Wilmslow, Macclesfield & Knutsford. She has had a fantastic response from existing customers who have been coming along to Jabberjacks over the years and has already taken 4 party bookings in her first week!
Joanne Smyth, Jabberjacks Franchisee for High Peaks & Congleton
Awarded her Franchise in 2015.
Joanne and her partner live in Buxton, Derbyshire with her 2 sons aged 6 and 9. Joanne has spent most of her recent career working with children. She has a wide range of experiences including after school clubs, soft play centre and most recently as an Early Years Practitioner, working as a teaching assistant and then a Nursery Deputy Manager and Manager.
It was during her time working at a nursery near Manchester, where Joanne first experienced Jabberjacks. Gaynor the franchisee for North Manchester provided weekly classes at Fishfield Nursery and Joanne was really impressed with the Jabberjacks format. After moving to Buxton, Joanne wanted a change in direction and initially looked around for other options including seeing if she could work for Jabberjacks. After contacting Head Office and finding out that there wasn’t a Jabberjacks in the area, Joanne began her journey to becoming a Jabberjacks Franchisee.
Whilst not essential for a new franchisee, her knowledge and experience from working with children and managing a nursery has meant that she has been one of our fastest recruitments. As part of the Franchise License she has been guided through her party and class training and franchise business management, much of which has been hands on experience at parties supported by Head Office.
Joanne is offering parties and classes in her exclusive territory of High Peaks and Congleton. She had a fantastic and positive response from locals in the area who had previously struggled to find quality entertainment for their children’s parties and weekly activity classes that were suitable for preschoolers of all ages.
Nikki Rawsthorne, Jabberjacks Franchisee for South Manchester
Awarded her Franchise in 2014.
Nikki lives in Stretford, near Manchester with her teenage son.
Nikki heard about Jabberjacks years ago when she visited the classes with her son. Since then she has always had a keen interest in the Jabberjacks Franchise but was committed to her teaching career. She has worked in a primary school for a number of years as a teacher and also as a teaching Deputy Head.
She decided to look again at Jabberjacks when the re-sale opportunity became available in South Manchester towards the end of last year and decided the time was right to make that next step into something she had always wanted to do.
She started delivering these fun-filled traditional parties only days after signing her franchise agreement and is already looking for a Party Leader to meet the growing demand as her parties gain in popularity from this re-sale opportunity. As Jabberjacks is a low cost franchise it does allow your business to grow with you and with the income from her parties, Nikki is now launching classes and has benefited from the support of local franchisees by having the opportunity to join in their pre-school activity classes and get some hands-on experience.
Nikki loves the fact that Jabberjacks parties are busy and interactive, with lots of dancing and non-stop games to keep both her and the children entertained and fully supports the use of puppetry in developing children's social, communication and gross motor skills.
Hannah Yates, Jabberjacks Franchisee for South Nottinghamshire
Awarded her Franchise in 2013.
Hannah is married and lives in Gamston, near West Bridgford, with her daughter Imogen and baby son, Luca.
For most of her career she worked within operations for well known corporate companies, latterly in a position as Operations Director. During her maternity leave Hannah began volunteering at a local Primary School with the intention of converting her degree to become a teacher. By chance, she came across Jabberjacks whilst meeting a friend for coffee in the local Cafe Nero in West Bridgford and has never looked back.
Hannah has experience in business skills including marketing, which is useful when running your Jabberjacks business, although not essential as this is all included within the Franchise Licence. What Hannah has found helpful is learning all about the Jabberjacks parties and activity classes and how they link to the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) along with the flexibility of the training consisting of a combination of hands on experience at Head Office and at live events and also late night meetings after the children had gone to bed.
Hannah is offering parties in her exclusive territory of South Nottinghamshire, receiving her first enquiry in a matter of days after her announcement and has set herself the goal of offering pre-school classes in 2014.
Karen Price, Jabberjacks Franchisee for South Derbyshire - now up for resale
Awarded her Franchise in 2013.
Karen lives in Breaston with her husband and two girls, Molly and Megan.
Before joining Jabberjacks, Karen worked as teacher in a local primary school, whilst also acting as Head Teacher for a while, previous to that working for the Local Education Authority (LEA) as a Standards Consultant. Karen loves the educational element Jabberjacks brings to it's pre-school activity classes and birthday parties, whilst at the same time making sure the children have lots of fun, as they learn. Both her girls were delighted when Karen returned home with all the equipment she received as part of her Franchise package and started putting it to good use immediately after booking 5 parties within 2 months of setting up.
Karen started by offering birthday parties in her exclusive territory and has now set up pre-school activity classes in Long Eaton and Chellaston after her youngest started nursery and is delighted with the huge response.
Karen was keen to find a franchise that fitted around family life, including school drop-offs and pick-ups and after coming along to our Discovery Day back in September 2012, she found Jabberjacks was ideal with most party bookings being on a weekend, when her husband is at home and the baby and toddler classes operating during school term time only.
Wendy Rowland, Jabberjacks Franchisee for Chester, Northwich & Winsford
Awarded her Franchise in 2011.
Wendy is married to Paul and lives in Winsford with her daughter Evie.
For 22 years she worked for a UK online provider of sheet music and songbooks, as a Sales and Marketing Manager. After the birth of her daughter she was looking to reduce her working hours when she found her job was not compatible with family life.
Having a Certificate in Education Degree and A Level Theatre Studies, she became involved with teaching performing arts to children and started to look at ways in which she could turn this passion into a career. Whilst searching on-line for a business opportunity working with children, she found out about Jabberjacks who deliver pre-school activity classes and parties to children up to the age of 7. Jabberjacks has enabled Wendy to build on her knowledge in performing arts, particularly through these educational classes where she uses story-telling and drama to lift the lid on a child’s imagination.
She currently offers parties and classes and has established brilliant connections with the local Surestart centres where she delivers pre-school activity classes most days of the week.
Using her amateur dramatics to great effect Wendy loves building up the children’s excitement and seeing their faces as she opens up the treasure box for the next big surprise!
Christine Mendonidis, Jabberjacks Franchisee for Hampstead, Finchley & Barnet
Awarded her Franchise in 2008.
Christine has two boys and lives with her husband in Finchley, North London.
She studied in drama and education and was a Corporate Trainer in Communication skills whilst living in South Africa. On her return to the UK Christine worked as a TEFL Teacher (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) and then moved into the London Travel Trade.
As her children came along she took a career break and as soon as she heard about Jabberjacks she was very impressed and leapt at the opportunity to bring it to North London.
Christine whole heartedly believes in the Jabberjacks concept which offers something truly different to pre-school children and where these activity classes deliver the perfect balance of interaction, physical play and concentration.
She uses her drama skills to great effect through her local toddler classes and it is a delight to see the concentration she brings to the children’s face during her puppet storytelling activities.
Gaynor Black, Jabberjacks Franchisee for North Manchester
Awarded her Franchise in 2004.
Gaynor has a little boy called Leo and lives with his Dad, Barnaby in Worsley near Manchester. She has done a variety of office work over the years and discovered Jabberjacks whilst working in a nursery, where she met a Franchisee whose daughter attended the nursery.
She started out as a Party Leader, whilst working as a Nanny for two families and at the same time studying for a diploma in counselling. Gaynor was not intentionally looking for a children’s entertainment business but as soon as she found out about this children’s franchise opportunity in North Manchester she jumped at the chance.
Gaynor has a great voice and loves singing, having been a member of a band singing original music, as well as doing cover versions in local pubs and clubs. The great thing about Jabberjacks is she gets to sing every day to an appreciative audience, as we use lots of music and rhyme in our parties and pre-school classes with the children.
Despite being in child-care Gaynor never had any formal qualifications and the great thing about this educational franchise is that you have all the information you need to run this successful business in the manuals and training you receive as part of the Franchise package.
In 2013 Gaynor won, for the third year running, the award for Best Performer across all the Franchisee and in 2014 is celebrating her 10th year as a Jabberjacks Franchisee.
Sue Wright, Jabberjacks Franchisee for Wilmslow, Macclesfield & Knutsford
Awarded her franchise in 2002.
Sue is married with two sons and they live in Wilmslow, a lovely part of Cheshire.
After 13 years in the insurance sector, she went to live in Germany where she then returned to the UK and taught German at a local college.
Sue joined Jabberjacks as a class leader in 2001 when Penny, the original founder set up these unique activity classes for babies and toddlers.
When her youngest son was born, she was looking for a career which provided flexible working and the opportunity to buy this kids franchise in Wilmslow presented the perfect way for her to combine her work with looking after her family.
Sue is our longest owning franchisee and is a great asset to the team. She is more than happy to share her knowledge and experiences gained from over 10 years of delivering these educational classes and fun-filled parties with her fellow franchisees.
